Hull is undeniably one of the principal ports of England's east coast, boasting over 800 years of seafaring history. To learn more about Hull’s nautical roots, be sure to visit the Maritime Museum, and experience the history of this sea-faring city come alive before your eyes. The museum is housed in the beautiful Victorian Dock Offices in Queen Victoria Square.
For those who desire to take in more culture during their stay, The Museums Quarter is home to four museums, each offering its own unique experience. First, the Arctic Corsair is a deep-sea trawler with treasures waiting to be discovered. Next, explore the Streetlife Museum, which is dedicated to commemorating the history of local transport.
You can’t miss the grand Georgian house which is host to the Wilberforce House Museum. Birthplace of William Wilberforce, whose life’s work concerned the abolition of slavery, the museum commemorates the life of a man who is still considered to be one of the city’s most important inhabitants.
Last is the Hull and East Riding Museum, with its numerous displays dedicated to natural history and archaeology.
If you’re more interested in nature, be sure to not miss The Deep! This public aquarium, located at Sammy’s point, contains thousands of sea creatures, and is an important institution for marine research.

Whether it be one of our favourite local cafes, Thieving Harrys, or a classic pub experience like Lion & Key, there really is something for everyone here in Hull. With a blossoming dining scene, you’ll want to be sure to check out some of the local hotspots like Tapyasa, which specialises in Indian fusion cuisine, and Humber Fish Co, which offers a relaxed informal dining experience with locally-sourced fish and seafood.
Don’t forget to check out the vibe at Humber Street at the heart of Hull’s Fruit Market. It has a great mix of culture, cafés, bars and restaurants and trendy shopping too.
